Just to note there are some variations in pronunciation in Spain too. My accent is all over the place at the moment as my tutor has a madrileƱa accent which is very different from the andalucian accent I generally hear - but I can detect differences from the CataluƱa accent too.

I listen to a lot of South American Spanish films ..... different again.

To answer your question it is feasible to change your accent - some people find it more difficult than others: good luck!
