I do wish, however, that the audio did not have so many pauses and gaps. |

There's a free program call Audacity in which you can run an effect called "truncate silence" on a piece of audio,
which removes any long pauses (you set the maximum pause duration manually and it locates and removes the
pauses for you). It's very handy and also gives you a good look at the value you get for your money. A 30-minute
Pimsleur lesson shrinks down to 11-12 minutes! Note that you need the beta version of Audacity to be able to use
truncate silence.

MichaelM204351,
Thanks for the reply. I am breathing a sigh of relief. After not getting any replies after a week, I decided ,just yesterday, to order the program anyway. I feel encouraged by your success with the program. Any additional tips on using it would be appreciated. I anticipate receiving the program in a day or two. Thanks.

I was wondering if Cortina would produce audio for all their courses. Unfortunately it seems they won't.

No, I’m sorry, we have no plans to create a Russian audio course.

There are records for the Russian. However, I have not been able to find a set. They date back to the 1950s. Has anyone got a set?

You chop out the silent spaces where you're supposed to answer?
That's not "The Pimsleur Method," that's "Pimsleur's Digest"! ;-)
Is that for when you're good enough to shadow right over the spoken answer immediately?

I find it useful for revising lessons I've previously done while on the go. Not so much use for doing lessons for the first time, although if you don't mind pressing the pause button after every question it can let you fit a lot more lessons onto your MP3 player...

Can anyone tell me what level the Maaster Linguist course takes you to? The website states "intermediate", but that could mean ANYTHING in salesman jargon!
Being already at an intermediate level (B1-B2), I'd like to know if there's anything extra to be gained from the course.

If you're at a B1, you could probably gain a little, but if you're at a B2 it's probably not worth it... If I were you, I would just get the book at amazon (you can get them for about a dollar). That way you could go through it quickly and gain whatever you can, while simply reviewing what you already know...
This is what I did with German and it was very helpful. Essentially, it is just a collection of dialogs. So, if you can read the dialog easily and without too much difficulty repeat the dialog in the target language while reading the English side, move on to the next dialog.
