I like the old Living Language course, Living Hebrew. It was recorded entirely in Hebrew and gives a good introduction to the language.

Hebrew at Your Ease by Eliezer Tirkel consists of 4 cassettes and a book but has possibly been upgraded to CDs. It is excellent to get acquainted with modern Hebrew.

A local synagogue may have Hebrew lessons. A friend of mine signed up for a Hebrew course and then found it clashed with his university course so he allowed me to go in his place. The synagogue had courses for home study as well.

Torah Educational Software has a selection of material for studying Hebrew; you might like to visit their website.

I don't think I would like lessons at a synagogue - I am quite secular (and not Jewish in fact either - my interest in Hebrew was sparked by an ex-girlfriend who spoke the lingo). I'll check out the other suggestions you mentioned.

Ukindia has good, easy material for learning the Hebrew alphabet and vowels.

You can find it at http://www.ukindia.com/zip/zhib1.htm.

They teach a number of scripts for different languages and give a good introduction to the languages as well. I downloaded the pages/lessons and you can print them out. The lettering is quite large which I find useful when learning a new script.
