I'm wondering what is needed for the first level of study.

It seems that the following are needed:

Familia Romana interactive Latin course (computer version with readings of 31 chapters)
Exercitia Latina I
Lingua Latina Teacher's manual (the answer key)
Colloquia Personarum (stories)
Latine Disco (student manual)

Is that all, or can you do it with less?
Has anyone tried the CD-ROM of the course? Is it worth the extra $6 to hear the readings?

Thanks, Juan.

I saw the college companion before, and reviews said it replaces the Disco Latine and the Grammatica.

I didn't see the vocabulary book before. I don't know if the college companion will take care of that, too.

So it seems to start:

Familia Romana - CD-ROM
Exercitia
Colloquia Personarum
College companion (I think it has answers to the exercitia)
Possibly the vocabulary book, but I think the above book has the vocabulary in it

If you're going to by working at the computer, you might as well use this for a dictionary. It is a fabulous resource. There's even a downloadable version for working offline.

In my case this is the set I put together for the first part of the course:

* Lingua latina per se illustrata, pars I: Familia romana
* Exercitia latina I
* A College Companion based on Hans Orberg's Latine disco, with Vocabulary and Grammar
* Teachers' Materials & Answer Keys for Pars I & II
* Colloquia personarum
* Sermones romani
* Caesaris: Commentarii de bello gallico

I think that the CD do have the exercises, though I'm not sure. Bear in mind though, that the programme is really
old and thus can be a little tricky (see Amazon reviews for info about that, I've never used the programme myself -
I have the books and audio).

The college companion does have vocabulary!

Thanks.

There is a new version of the CD available. I was wondering if anyone used it because it doesn't have any reviews yet. It says it has interactive pensa, I don't know if that's referring to the exercises in Familia Romana or the Exercitia.

Sorry to go off topic, but I was wondering: has anyone used the course "Learn to Read Latin"? I might be interested in this course.

It comes up twice in a search, both mentioned by the same person.

I've looked in it and it's basically the same old grammar-point, example sentences, vocab, translate-book as most
Latin courses have been since 1700 AD.
