Hey everybody, haven't posted for awhile. Hope all is well. I have a request from my fellow Assimil lovers.

I was curious to know if any of you guys/gals have counted how many words are in just the "With Ease" volumes (or without toil). This is just for my own curiosity and before I do it myself I decided to take the lazy way and see if anyone had done it first. If you have counted the "Using" advanced programs, I'd be happy to know those as well.

All languages welcome but I am SPECIFICALLY interested in European languages.

Thanks for any assistance.

Counting words in the end of each course, the vocabulary section, I would say: 1500-1800 words as a rough estimation in the latest courses (1990s and 2000s), but it's worth to notice that sometimes a new word introduced in an exercise or a note (= never used in a lesson) is not listed in the former mentioned section, at least in Russian (the courses I know better), so it's possible there are a few more of them.

About a month ago I posted a comparison between the new version of Assimil Swedish (Le Suédois, 2011) and the old one (Le suédois sans peine, 1986). On that occasion I counted the words in the glossary at the end of the books: the old edition has slightly more than 4200 words; the new one has some 2600+ words.

As you can see the difference is substantial. Consider, though, that Le suédois sans peine has often been cited on this site as an above-average course.

EDIT: typo.
