I searched around the forum, and I came across a couple of discussions about the compatibility of audio in Assimil courses, but i couldn't seem to find a definite
answer.I have the audio for the 1984 Hilde Schneider Assimil German with Ease course.
Would that be compatible with the new German with Ease courses by Gudrun Roemer? Or do
the new ones differ only in appearance and layout?
I am referring to the courses in English, if that makes any differnce.

I have Assimil German with Ease by Hilde Schneider and L'Allemand by Maria Roemer. They are altogether different courses.
The one by Schneider is better, IMHO.

The old German without Toil by A. Chérel is even better than the one by Schneider, but they are both very
good.

I already have the old German without Toil and I am enjoying it a lot. I just decided to
use it in conjunction with one of the new ones. Do all Assimil with ease courses by the
same author (and same language of course) utilize the same audio despite their
publication dates?

I used German without Toil together with German with Ease. I think it was a very nice combination.

I think some of them have been rerecorded, but I think they have made only minor editorial changes to the text,
such as updated prices, so it shouldn't pose a problem.

I don't think that L'Allemand (Collection Sans Peine) by Maria Roemer is the same as
German With Ease now by (apparently, according to Assimil's website) Gudrun Roemer. If
you look at the covers of the two books they are different and if you put the ISBN for
German With Ease into Amazon, the author is Hilde Schneider:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Assimil-German-Ease-Book/dp/27005052 71/ref=sr_1_1?
ie=UTF8&qid=1337979232&sr=8-1

It is certainly the case that the Roemer L'Allemand (Collection Sans Peine) is
different to the Schneider German With Ease/Le Nouvel Allemand sans peine - I
personally
like L'Allemand (Collection Sans Peine) - it does not go as far but it is more
humorous, has more usable language and the actors (to my ears) have nicer voices.

Unless I am mistaken and German with Ease is the same as L'Allemend (Collection Sans
Peine), however, you do need advanced-beginner level French to use L'Allemand

I have German with Ease. It says "Original text by Hilde SCHNEIDER. Adopted for the use of English-speaking readers
by A. STETTLER". ISBN 978-2-7005-0132-2. © 1987. Printed May 2007.

I think that I will buy one by Hilde Schneider, just to be safe. One a different note,
for those of you who have used the newer course in conjunction with the traditional
German Without Toil, do you recommend going through a lesson of each a day or
should I alternate between them?
