Michel Thomas was a language teacher. He produced some popular audio courses in French, German, Spanish and Italian (aimed at native English speakers). He taught using an original method. There are three stages to each course. The beginner's course contained eight CDs, the intermediate course contained two, and the advanced course contained four. A set of three courses (beginner, intermediate and advanced) would cost about $150 US brand-new. Read the reviews on amazon.co.uk for more information.

Really interesting. I already speak French and German (Spanish is my mothertonge). For more info, I'm in German c1.2 (around 4500 or 5000 words) in Goethe Institute, and french, well, i have 1800 words vocabulary. Which level of Michel T. French/German would you recommend me?
(CONSIDER THAT I CAN'T BUY THE WHOLE PACK; $150 IT'S TOO MUCH MONEY IN MY COUNTRY)
Thank You, Guido.

You may want to have a look at Ebay. Every now and then there are basic packs, advanced packs et.c. for sale (starting from a couple of dollars).

To be honest, at that level in German, I'm not sure you'd gain anything at all from the courses. Possibly you would in French but it's a lot of money to waste if not.
Andy.

I would say ADVANCED French would be your best bet.

The Advanced Michel Thomas course is very grammar focused, so if that's not the gap you want to fill I would say it's not the right course for you.
I'm not aware of an "intermediate" course per se, there is a "Language Builder" 2-cd course which follows the Beginner one. This course is focused on vocab and idiom rather than grammar.
But perhaps they are packaged differently in the US?
I had good school French, but had forgotten much of it. I initially thought starting at the Beginner course would be too basic for me. In fact I found it worthwhile, but I moved through it very quickly.

Just to second what everyone else has been saying, the advanced course covers the verbs conjugations and pronoun order. How well do you know the French verbs?
If you don’t have them down pat then this course Advanced French for under $40 might be worth it. I used the course two years ago and still find myself going back to it for reviews.

Michel Thomas' Deluxe is a very good supplement to my beginning Spanish language study to my use of Pimsleur and other self study materials. I listen to his discs and it makes success with Pimsleur easier. The male student is very annoying but I still benefit from listening. I bought a used set on eBay for about $40.00, money well spent.

now that they are releasing MT for mandarin, russian and arabic http://pub8.bravenet.com/forum/657257956/show/656513, if they are as good as the other courses, especially if they can make mandarin a more digestable language, i think there will be more respect given to his method. Even though he isnt the teacher on these new courses, or the new vocab courses. im looking forward to these releases as i find teh Spanish is really helping me.
