I think this topic was posted some time ago, but since I'm not a premium user then it's harder to find those topics. Anyway, as you all know, there is a topic named "Languages goals for 2011". I'm a big fan of the S.M.A.R.T. Goal setting techniques - it works for many of aspects that I want to achieve. I want to hear your experiences about goal setting in the language learning area, your techniques, etc. And, why the SMART goal technique is good or bad for languages.

I've never heard of "Goal Setting". Now, if you'll excuse me, I want to watch some more TV now. :-)

Just kidding.

Can you tell me what the S.M.A.R.T. method is, please? I'm guessing there is a system with short range goals and long range goals, etc. Maybe I can use then starting in January! Thanks.

meets the criteria for a SMART goals:

S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Timely

For my New Year's resolution, I've set myself the goal to start setting goals. Problem is, there's a reason it's my New Year's resolution... :P

I used to set unrealistic goals, and lay plans too far ahead. Now, I set myself achievable goals for every day and week; but I keep the months and years a little (not completely) vague.

Yes. If I don't have any goals, I am happy and I am a very successful person.

Actually I usually let the context set my goals. Maybe I have goals without having goals.

Too metaphysical for me. I have trouble putting my shoes on the right feet, lol... But good luck with 'goals without goals' :P
