I take MSA in college, but we are into the al-Kitaab series of great fame, and it's MSA
and a little bit of Egyptian thrown in.
I am interested having Lebanese as my focus of study for colloquial. (I really like
Lebanon) Are there any good books out there for the study of Lebanese/Levantine
colloquial? I found a few on Amazon, but there are more for people that have no MSA
experience or don't know the arab script (boo for transliteration) I'm looking for
something that is for people with a standard background in Arabic, and I am also open to
books that are French/Lebanese as I reckon that could work too...
شكراً

Are you aware that there is a new 3rd edition of alkitaab, which as well as covering MSA. also covers Egyptian and Levantine dialects in more depth? For example all new vocab is given in the 3 varieties side by side, the grammar of the dialects is explained. I'm not using myself as I don't find it too good for self study. I believe there are also Leventine DVD versions of the story.

Ah! I wish that my school was using the 3rd ed. Hopefully we will for the subsequent
books. That's good to know. I'm glad they've decided to add Levantine, and put all
three forms next to each other. That makes so much more sense.
