Hi all,
I noticed there's quite a few Portuguese learners on this site, so thought I'd pass this along. It's a free greasemonkey script for Firefox: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/132506 It's a tool for finding example usage of a word or phrase and saving clippings to flashcards (for later export). In other words, it's an all-in-one portuguese search tool which displays all results natively, without ads, without pictures. To give you a feel for how I use it, these are my most recent entries (originating from searches I did while reading online): confiante, distinto e boa-pinta sonega impostos As preposições são a coisa mais difícil de lembrar O campo não só é grande como moderno! engajamento político volta à ribalta pôr (algo) na ribalta uma ânsia avassaladora um pouco esmagadora governo esbanjador =================== confident, distinctive and handsome (good-looking, smart, well-dressed) withhold taxes Prepositions are the most difficult thing to remember The play ground is not only big *but also* modern. political involvement/engagement back in the limelight put (something) at centre stage / in the spotlight an overwhelming urge a bit overwhelming wasteful government As you can see, I prefer short phrases that introduce new vocabulary, ...a relaxed approach to flashcards with several phrases on a single card, starting off by simply recognizing meaning. Not that my learning method is significant, just making the point that this is not meant as a leaning tool for newbies. But back to my main point... Being that this was fairly easy to implement (I didn't know Javascript prior to creating this), do any learners on here have similar tools for themselves? Would such a tool violate your own code of ethics? (i.e., by using Javascript to bypass the site & ads) 2 persons have voted this message useful | |
