"işte" is equal to "Look! There it is" where as you use "bak" in situations such as
"look, there is a cat over there"

But well "işte" is still very much in use in Turkish; probably either you pronounced it
very bad or your student is a 3rd generation Turkish-German, those know very little
Turkish if any at all. The Turkish they speak can be considered a whole new dialect.

He's second generation but I think that you're right; either I caught him off guard or he just didn't know the word. When I get better with speaking I'll test him to see how much he knows ;) Thanks for the clarification on the words!

I hope the French and German version are of the same quality, both goods and the bad. I guess I'll go ahead and
buy it.

It looks like there are enough grammar notes in and one could start listening to native audio with transcription
after the Assimil.

I started using the FSI Turkish course and was wondering if the vocabulary is so outdated that it wouldnt be worth finishing FSI??
