I have recently managed to get hold of an entire Linguaphone German course from 1965 in excellent condition. It includes 4 books and about 15 records.
Does anyone know if this course is as good as what Linguaphone is producing now? I mean, their courses today are rather expensive. Im in the process of converting the records to mp3. I cant wait to start this course. My German is decent, but im not as good as i'd like to be. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I have several Linguaphone courses from the sixties and I think they are excellent.
I learnt German with Assimil German Without Toil and a work colleague had learnt German with the Linguaphone course. His German was excellent. I recently bought a new Swedish Linguaphone course with 9 CDs and it seems similar to the older courses. I bought it at a huge discount because it was supposed to be used but it came in brand new condition with every CD sealed. I don't know there is much difference between the old and the new except for the binding of the books and the medium of the audio. yours linguaphone German course contains 30 or 50 lessons? in both cases I think that old linguaphone courses are a good choice. from the reviews that I have read on the forum, the age 50's-60-70's is the golden era of Linguaphone courses 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Thanks for the replies guys. Pirana, there's 50 lessons in my Linguaphone course. I started from the beginning today keeping as strict as possible to the Linguaphone method. (I already completed Pimsleur German Level 1 and got halfway through level 2). I must say, even from lesson 1 Ive picked up the occasional word or expression that i didn't know.
