A good online course is Filoglossia. It has video, audio, dialogues, exercises and grammar. And I would recommend this text book, .Communicate in Greek which has been recently adapted for English speakers. In total there are 3 volumes, each with 2 workbooks. A little pricey though

Thanks for the site links guys.

I have looked at some Greek textbooks, but they don´t seem as sustantial as the textbooks I am used to. What I want is a textbook dense with material, with many sustantial dialogue texts and a lot of vocabulary.

If anyone knows of any textbooks which specifically suit my requirements please recommend them to me.

Maybe this will suit you, then. Learning Modern Greek It has its merits such as a comprehensive overview of the grammar but I personally found the vocabulary lists too long. Each chapter is split into listening, reading (both mainly dialogues), grammar and vocab lists. There is a separate oral book with speaking drills and several tapes, although these now seem to have been put onto CD.

The book you recommended sounds good.

Unfortunately I do not have a copy of that one in the archive of Greek textbooks and readers which I downloaded.

It has a value of more than 50 Euros. With that kind of money it would be possible to purchase the 80s published Linguaphone course. The 80s generation linguaphone courses are awesome for just about any language and so if I were to invest money the Linguaphone starter course would be my priority.

If the textbook you recommended is available to download free online however, I certainly would be happy to obtain it.

Right now I am almost broke and don´t have a very large budget for spending on luxuries :(

Have you looked at the three volume FSI Greek with audio? There's also DLI Greek with 15 volumes and accompanying audio. Greek by Radio has a free course from elementary to advanced with 105 lessons- the book is available for $20. Lastly there's the audio only, Michael Thomas-like course Language Transfer: the Cypress Project free to download.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your suggestions Iguanamon.

I already have the FSI course which I downloaded online. FSI courses are good for drilling and pronunciation, but I am looking for something more dialogue, text and vocabulary heavy. I have considered using FSI as a side course.
