Cristina, you're awesome!
Tecktight: I bought Norština nejen pro samouky. It is part of a Czech series, similar to
TY or Colloquial but I think the Czech courses are more comprehensive. It looks really
great.
And I love some of the Norwegian false friends. For exemple gift means married. And stol
means chair, while stůl in Czech, which is pronounced the same, means table. It's an
awesome language.

In German, Gift means poison, which is an even more ironic false friend :)
Good luck with Norwegian! I prefer Swedish, as I've mentioned before I think, so I'm
learning that instead, but given the relative closeness of the two languages I think I'll
be able to follow a huge chunk of what is going on here :)

@Cristina: Thanks! I will definitely be taking you up on some of your offers. Also, is there anything you haven't
done or taught? Next thing you'll be telling us you were once a parachuting instructor.
@Cavesa: Hm, sounds like a nice book. I'm sure you'll have success with it. Indeed, I've noticed that variations of
"stol" exist in countless languages. I think literally every language I've studied has featured that word, meaning
different things, of course. It means 'table' in Serbian and Russian, too, though... I'm guessing it means that in most
Slavic languages, if not all?
@tarvos: Definitely, you'll be able to pick up on stuff on this log. Swedish is also an excellent choice. I was debating
picking Swedish a while back, but Norwegian warms me more, for some reason. Though I do think Swedish is sort
of, well, cuter. :D

No, no parachuting experience :-) In 25 years from now I am sure you will have lots of experiences too. So
far I have been a translator, a news paper girl, a guide, I have taught English, French and Spanish in high
school, French for cooks, Tecnical English, Norwegian for foreigners and Norwegian with Social Science in
a proffesional school, worked 20 years for the railways, I give Power Point presentations about roses and
flowering bulbs, run my own
business selling photos of flowers to news papers and magazines ( and have had my work printed in a
dozen publications) I write articles on gardening, tulips and roses for specialised magazines and produce
and sell rose jelly.
In my free time I have been head of Oslo Rose society, Grorud church council, and been a member of the
Norwegian Nudist Association, the Ukrainian Norwegian friendship association and the English society for
Historical Rose Society and 5 Scandinavian Rose and Gardening societies. I have also won two photo
competitions and been best exhibitor at the Rose show 3 of the 4 times I participated. Too much free time?
Not a problem:-)

Overall, it's a paltry amount, but I'm relatively pleased. My main goal is consistency. Once I can establish good
daily habits, I can increase my daily workload. I just want to get the discipline down first.

Cristina, goodness! Молодец! I knew you were an expert greenthumb (just the brief glimpse we got of your
garden in the video with Richard was stunning), but I didn't realize you were into photography, as well! Like I said
on your log, you should indulge us with some photographs some time! I'd love to see some of your work.
I wish I could manage my time as well as you do! Evidently, with all those activities, plus your multiple languages,
you're a master at it. Any tips that you can share with a time-wasting, poorly-disciplined person like myself?
I assume you make use of some sort of planning system. Do you map out each day, or each week? How detailed
do
you get in your daily plans?
I've tried everything from making lists (which I never manage to finish, and thus frequently disappoint myself) to
mapping out every hour of my day. The latter works well, but, after just a couple days, I stop making a daily plan
and it just all falls by the wayside.
Maybe it's that I spend too much time on the internet. Closing FB, HTAL, and my emails, which are open nearly all
the time, might be a good start...
