Thanks for all the advice everybody. It's a really tricky decision cuz I can't really afford to make the wrong one.

@Lucas - I think I agree with your conclusion, it should be more fun to learn Russian through Czech, I can't help but dislike English so I might enjoy studying even more when it's in Czech. And most of my speaking time in Russian will be with Czech speakers of Russian. I'll only want to reach B1/B2 level. I DO think and dream in Czech (maybe not completely correctly!) so maybe it won't be much different.

Italian will be more tricky cuz my Spanish isn't as good as my Czech so maybe I'll go for English or even Czech on that one.

I'll be going for Yucatec Maya at some stage too but that will have to be in Spanish cuz the best resources are in that language.

@starst - I agree with you and have done the same with higher level study of my languages but not at a low level.
