From the look at the pages shown, I would say go for it. Yes, it is dated in spelling but there was nothing really dated in the text I have seen. You will learn probably more polite way of formulation, but unless you intend to speak with young Germans in bars and pubs only, it is not really wrong. And as soon as you meet authentic spoken language, it is very easy to transform your speech to different register.
You may learn the pre-reform spelling but the shifts are very logical and it wont really matter in understanding. Even now, many people in Germany grew with the old spelling and it is still accepted as an usual variant.
I am thinking about buying the book myself - as source and inspiration for when I start to teach German to my nieces. I would need to adapt and translate it for them (native Czech speakers) but it looks better than many of current books available.
