Why do I hear Farsi when I listen to Armenian? I was watching a documentary on the
Genocide, and whenever there was dialogue in Armenian, I swore it sounded like an Iranian
language. Anyone else think so? I guess it's the sprachbund effect, but I found it odd.

Massive Iranian influence at multiple levels. I believe the earliest Indo-Europeanists thought Armenian was an
Iranian language together with Persian, only later recognizing that it was a separate branch.
That said, not all Indo-European branches are equally distant from each other. Italic is closer to Celtic than to Indic.
Iranian is closer to Sanskrit than to Germanic. It appears that at its deepest roots, Armenian is somewhat closer to
Greek, Iranian, and Slavic than it is to other IE languages, such as Italic, Celtic, Tocharian, and Germanic.
