Can anyone point me in the direction of the best materials to Modern Standard Arabic on one's own, at least to build up a firm foundation?
I found this:

and he gives very well-reasoned opinions on many different learning materials, but I'm interested in what some experienced students might have to say --

I like Teach Yourself Complete Arabic and Learn to Read Arabic by Judith Meyer is good as well.
