	It seems that there are people who find the acquisition of hanja is beneficial to them, and others who don't. From other statements the same people made I got the feeling that those who find hanja easy and helpful tend to struggle more with Korean phonology than the other group. I myself prefer visually coded information and I find it much easier to learn and access Sinokorean words using hanja as a visual cue to the concept, than merely using hangeul as a way to represent their pronunciation. The same is true for me in Japanese, and it has been that way from the start. So, maybe hanja are one of the things one should try out, and decide to keep or ditch depending on how helpful they are for oneself? 3 persons have voted this message useful

	I reckon that many people, fearing the time and effort required to do master 漢字, downplay their importance, and that they speak of that which they know not. 漢字 are the door to the infinite riches of Korea's language, history, and culture.If one desires to read and truly understand advanced Korean writings, such as newspapers and books, 漢字 are essential. How many people here who discount 漢字's importance have read an advanced Korean book? (As an example, I offer this book, which I'm currently reading: 科學의 誕生 by Yamamoto Yoshitaka.) 5 persons have voted this message useful
