I have neglected the characters. I just keep putting all my time in comprehension and speaking.
Skritter is the best. However, I think I was more interested in just cramming as many characters in as possible and seeing the statistics showing how many characters I "knew", regardless if I knew them or not.
I've recently deleted all my words at skritter and started again. The turtle wins the prize - slow and steady and just don't stop.
Also, my daughter now has a Chinese name and I'm sure that has inspired me more with the characters. We shall see.

Who chose the name and what does it mean? My kids all have Chinese names but they haven't got a clue as to what those are....we've never used those in speech. And a funny thing is that my husbands' Chinese name and mine means basically the same thing.

Snowflake,
卡雅智. The first character is for my last name. My mother-in-law came up with the name. One of the characters sounds like the village we live in but mostly they just liked the sound of it.
Characters: I'm really pacing myself. Last night I only let myself go through one chapter of Heisig. I'll review it again today and practice writing it on Skritter.

It's hard to believe I have not updated this log. I've been studying and learning the whole time. I'm still here. I have not reached the advanced level. I can't understand movies or the news but I can converse on most topics. I'm still working at it. I bought the new "Remembering The Hanzi 2"

Congratulations on all of your life progress and your progress learning Cantonese. Even if you only learn one character a day, make it count and keep the progress up.
One day we'll be able to chat like the native speakers, huh? Heh..

Thanks zhanglong. I'm really going to start more with the characters now. I have the added competition with my young daughter. She is only 9 months old but I don't want her 1 day knowing more than I do - haha.
