I went to my last German class before Christmas yesterday and instead of doing fun Christmas things (like we did
last year) we talked about Konzentrationslagern and Auschwitz/Arbeit Macht Frei. Wow. I wasn't expecting this and
it's the kind of topic that is pretty difficult to hit the right note in when you're in your native language, so this was
quite difficult. But also useful. We should be able to discuss these things, and ALL things, in our languages, native
or not, and so this was a difficult but decent attempt to do this.

However, one lovely thing about this was to think about how far Europe has moved on. Let's hope the current crisis
doesn't lead us down any dark alleys...

Hola Alexander, m'agrada el teu blog. :) You're already way more advanced than me, and I'm afraid I can't say much more in the language yet, but I'm looking forward to having the opportunity to practice it with you and anamsc this year.

Hallo!
Tja, Deutsch passt mir prima!

It seems like I'm doing a lot of German at the moment. I did my homework for my language class today and it took
me over an hour, but while it was time consuming I found it really easy to answer the questions, there was a lot of
them though... I feel my German is really coming along, but the need to pass from passive to active is ever more
apparent. But how to do it? I just don't quite know. I think perhaps I should spend more time reading, watching TV
and speaking than 'studying' them.

And yet this Friday I'm off to Barcelona, so it's byebye to the German and hello to Spanish/Catalan, which is always
a good switch =) My Spanish is fine, I understand everything and speak OK, my Catalan needs a lot of work and
work on it I shall! I think I'll put some Catalan stuff on my Kindle and read it on the plane over? Hmm..

Adéu.

Hola, espero que hagis après molt català i castellà a Barcelona. Encara estàs allà? No hauries de dir que al teu català "needs a lot of work" -- que ja hem vist com escrius, i es nota que en parles molt!

Què llegeixes en català? Normalment no m'agrada llegir llibres traduïts a les meves llengües estrangeres; tens algun suggeriment d'algun llibre en català que t'agradi molt?
