Obscure and not obscure at the same time. Georgian people are nice, friendly, they like to have guests. Georgian literature has a long tradition. Architecture is unique. I don't know, I feel it's a long-standing civilization. I don't see the country as exotique, only the language is not related to indo-european but the rest seems so familiar to me in a way I better not try to explain;)

მადლობა!
I made the mistake of looking ahead in my book and read about Georgian verb conjugation... wish I hadn't done
that! :-o I'm not sure how native Georgians can even get a handle on that!
Murdoc, I think you just taught me my phrase of the day from expugnator's log: ძაˈლიან მაგარი
as in აუ ძაˈლიან მაგარი კინოა
it means "really cool" right?!

It's that bad, huh?
Don't worry. You'll get it eventually.
I think the Georgian natives will be patient. I doubt there are that many people learning the language.

@liddytime, while searching for something else, I came across Peace Corps Georgian with audio in a 424mb zip file. Hope this helps. As a side note, isn't it amazing how popular Georgian has become on HTLAL. I can't help but think that so much of it is down to TD's "small expectations" log which, I always enjoy reading.
Best of luck,@liddytime, I also look forward to your log entries in whatever project you undertake.

Yes and "ძალიან" is written without stress, I just put it there to demonstrate how it is pronounced.

Yes. I also think TixhiiDon is the guilty party here :-)
But I really wish you guys would not make it so tempting to study the only language on the planet that I have given my word that I will not learn.

The only language I ever promised not to learn is French. C'est la vie.
