You know that two weeks in the rules changed to count in units of pages and not units of
books? The Marathon des Sables isn't tough enough, you're going to run it
backwards barefoot :-)
You need a good local library with a ready stock of books in the 100 - 130 page range to
help you optimise your strategy!

Before all the information gathered for Team Asgard is drowned in the flood of threads, in the next three posts I’m going to copy the lists of useful links for learners of Nordic languages. As far as possible, I’ll try to maintain the links updated.

YEAR END SUMMARY
TAC 2014
Clearly TAC’14 was a total failure for me.
First I made the mistake of signing up for too many teams and then, even after officially dropping Spanish and Russian, I could never get into a reliable study routine. I suppose I wasn’t in the mood for structured learning this year. Even Swedish, my go-to language when burnt-out, couldn’t keep me very motivated.
It’s only because I was part of Team Asgård that I maintained the habit of doing something in Swedish every month, though that wasn’t always “real” studying. So thank you all Team Asgård members for sharing my journey and helping me stay committed throughout the year.
I’m probably a little OCD, and that’s why at the start of the year I kept track of how much actual studying I was doing. So, here (to my eternal shame but also to remind me that bad years happen, and they don’t necessarily mean that you must quit) are my pretty laughable numbers for 2014:
Minutes studied in 2014:
Spanish: 875
English: 550
Swedish: 480
Russian: 300
Latin: 125
If you wonder why Spanish turns out at the top, remember that it was my focus language for the February 6wc.
SUPER CHALLENGE
The massive input of the Super Challenge was much more in my chords this year. I’ve had an incredible reading streak: not even in my native language have I ever read so much over a 12-month period.
The big winner of this year was English, of course, but German wasn’t too bad after all. I managed to watch and listen to an awful lot of TV-movies and radio dramas in German and they were fantastic for my listening comprehension. I can’t say that they did miracles, but I’ve noticed a marked improvement in particular as far as the mental effort of listening to German is concerned.
Of course, I need to get serious about reading German novels next year, but I’m pretty optimistic about that.
Back in August I posted the list of what I read and watched in the first 4 months of the Super Challenge. Here’s the continuation of that list with the second term:

PLANS FOR 2015
I have decided to abstain from making resolutions for next year: there’s no point since I’m incapable of keeping to a plan. As of this writing, I haven’t even made up my mind on whether I should join TAC’15.
But there are a couple of guidelines that I wouldn’t mind if I could follow:
- avoid starting any new languages
- stop buying textbooks and other materials and just use the many that I already have (or I can borrow from the library).
The two are correlated: I’ve hoarded materials for too many TLs, but apart from my staples (English, German, Swedish), I’ve mainly dabbled with languages without seemingly getting anywhere.
Right now, I think I’d be better off concentrating on fewer languages but delving more in depth, rather than skimming the surface of yet another shiny new TL. Even so, considering that in the past I’ve toyed (with varying degrees of seriousness) with French, Spanish, Russian, Romanian, Latin, Chinese, and Japanese I think I’ve more than enough options to choose from!

Wow! Hats off! I'm really amazed at the amount of work you've accomplished!
Thanks for the kind words in my log and for all the useful ressources you've compiled in the course of the
year.
