Can’t Find Any Esperanto Books - Need Help | ||

Hey, everyone
I always enjoy going to the city to see Italian newspapers, books in Irish and so on, but it is quite impossible for me to get any books on Esperanto. Even worse, when I look on Amazon, all the books printed seem to be from the 19th Century or 1950s (I think there is one from the 90s). Why aren't there any new Esperanto books? Why are they so hard to get? I am going to try and learn Esperanto this summer, but there seem to be few resources. Does anyone know where I can get good quality, new novels, textbooks etc on Esperanto? Is there an Esperanto newspaper (even a monthly one?) or Esperanto radio station? Basically, I need more Esperanto resources apart from a few websites (as great as these are) so I can read Esperanto on train journeys, listen to it whilst doing my math homework etc and to at least prove to my family that Esperanto is quite a real, living language. The problem is not that there are few books; rather Amazon is reluctant to list them.
You can order several ten thousand Esperanto books from the Universal Esperanto Association, Flanders Esperanto League (click on "Retbutiko") or Esperanto-USA. The first two are probably the most interesting for you because they ship from Europe. Your local Esperanto club or the headquarters of the Irish Esperanto Association may also have a (smaller) selection of books to buy, rent or browse. Several Esperanto radio stations are listed here. You can find news online in Esperanto here, here or here. If you prefer to hold something in your hands, the magazine Monato is quite good, and I also enjoy Kontakto, which is included in my membership in TEJO (World Esperanto Youth organization). 6 persons have voted this message useful | |
