I’d say that politically and economically, the Dutch are pretty well informed on what’s going on in the UK, Belgium, the USA and, to a lesser extend, France and Germany. These are the countries whose news channels everyone can receive on their TV. In terms of history, west and central Europe are well known, the rest of Europe, Asia and North America a little and the rest of the world not at all. (world history education sucks in the Netherlands).
In terms of culture, American films, TV and music are everywhere and British culture is pretty well known as well, mainly through (children’s) books and films. Even though the Flemish speak the same language, I’m not familiar with Flemish culture at all and I can’t think of any Flemish bands but K3. French literature and German classical music are known but I doubt most people have any idea what’s going on in terms of contemporary culture. I happen to know some contemporary French artists because I listen to a French radio station as a form of immersion but I wouldn’t be able to name a German pop singer if my life depended on it. All I know of the whole of Scandinavian culture are Astrid Lindgren, ABBA and H.C. Andersen. (Oh and COBRA, if that one counts since it's also Dutch and Flemish and technically started in Paris.)
