JW, thanks, now I understand the irony, too. And this ambiguity, I think, comes from this prohibition. I really haven't remembered it. There is also written, that you shall not shave (completetly) your hair. So tattooed skinheads really seem to take the cake ;)

Yes if you look up the uses of קרחה (qarechah - baldness) in the Hebrew Bible you will find that it was considered ignominius by the Ancient Hebrews and was associated with idolotrous religious practices just as tattooing was.
Thus a tattooed skinhead is indeed anathema from a Biblical standpoint...
