Hello!
I´ve a strong interest in genealogy. I´d searches to get the meaning of my four surnames. Mateus Germano Moreira Frota Tibúrcio Germano: It means German in "High Level" Portuguese. My family went from Germany at the XVII century. Moreira: It´s an ancient Brazilian plant, what´s a common in families of indigenous roots. Frota: My ancestors went from Flanders to Portugal at the Second Crusade. And they had gone by a floot - Frota means Floot. Tibúrcio: According to one member from this forum, it means "from Tiber". My last name is Lavoie, which is French for "the way" or "the road" (or nowadays, the railroad track).
Looking at other names in my genealogy, I just looked up Richard (the French kind, not the English one), and apparently it means powerful or brave. On the non-French side of my family tree, we have Jackson, which simply means "son of Jack", and Angus, which might mean "unique choice", according to one site. My first name is Lianne, which some sites say means "to twine around", but I prefer the Hawaiian meaning, which is "Goddess of Canoe Making." :) 3 persons have voted this message useful |
