I didn't get very far with verbling this week. I tried it several times but people
hanged up as soon as a call was connected or it too long to receive a call. Would be interesting to know if others have had the same experience. I may give it a go as I type this message. The past week has been more of the same. I've watched about four films and my comprehension was pretty good. I've kept up my list of films since 2009 and I've reached over two hundred films I've seen in French. Although it's great to enjoy the films, I don't know how much overall this helps. Things are winding up in 2012 so I thought I would give my wrap up of the year that
was. News came in May that I would be coming to France in September to work as an English teacher in a high school. Prior to coming to France this year I would say it was a quiet year in terms of study. A few meet-ups, regular podcasts but no real active study. Since coming to France a few months ago I have been in an English bubble. I speak English at school and with other anglophones. I would not say that I have progressed a whole lot in the last 3 months. On the other hand I've had a number of language exchanges (including one today), I've watched a ton of movies and just by being here I've gotten a little up to speed. My studies of German ceased as soon word came that I was to come to French. I was really enjoying the study and I attended classes and got most of the way through Assimil. Some of the information I took in became knowledge. I may get back to German in the future (when all's well). In 2013 I will learn to speak like a French man or throw myself off a cliff. The films for this year, some were subtitled. Notable directors noted. A little down on the last three years numbers. 217 films seen in French since beginning 2009!
