I've been working from RTK since somebody loan their copy to me. I don't care for the
stories on most of them and they dont really help but I was told after a few hundred the order he uses will make sense and be helpful. Either way it's a free learning resource. I do 2/3 chunks of 10 kanji per day, writing them down a few times and self quizzing as described. I'm revising them each night with a premade deck on anki. This has been an effective hybrid method for me. It took a month and a half to learn katakana with no system yet I learn just as many kanji in 2 days.
