I definitely have a big gap in my internet vocabulary in my target languages. Rather than trawl through dictionaries and the internet on my own to fill in the gaps, I thought it would be a good idea and beneficial to many of us if we could translate the common terms into our native language. Only thing is my far from exhaustive list is already quite long. Hopefully some people will be willing to take the time. Please feel free to add to the list. I also added a few words connected to other new technologies.

Maybe you didn't expect such a list in Latin, but here are the Vocabula computatralia

However the most promising source for computer terms would be found in the 'komputeko' of a group named e@l, which aims at translating its collection of 7500 English computerwords into Esperanto, Dutch, German and French. Unfortunately I can't se any fullblown lists on its homepage, though there is a search mechanism. But I have at home a technical Anglo-Esperanto dictionary which as far as I remember has been compiled by this group, and during the Esperanto conference in Galway in July this year a representative showed a good oldfashioned list with English words in alphabetical order and translations into the aforementioned languages - exactly the thing I would want to see at their homepage as a scroll-down list.

But there is a serious problem: the only plausible translations are those into Esperanto. You can try to put a word into their search thing to see the format for a minor part of the vocabulary. I tried the word "thread" and got "fadeno" in Esperanto, which I guess is OK, but I got nothing in Dutch and .. Bedrohung and menace in German resp. French. Arrgh!!!!! Obviously the result of relying blindly on machine translations - and having at least one orthography challenged staff member.

Thread is colloquially translated as "draad(je)". Although many Dutch people simply
substitute the English "thread" directly as a loanword instead.

Thanks for contributing Tarvos. Looks as though there isn't much interest in general.

Thanks stelingo for that list and especially to tarvos for the Dutch translations.

Here are a couple of Dutch sites for Internet words. They are in Dutch only but are easy to understand because of the huge (and quite amazing) influence of English.

@stifa
has the term "lenke" gone out of use for "hyperlink"?
