There have been a lot of forum entries, and some fairly active discussions, on issues of mutual intelligibility within various language families.

I was first shown a list including German, Yiddish, Dutch, Danish, Frisian, Swedish,
Norwegian, Faroese and Icelandic, and eventually selected for...Danish. It's a 100% aural test, no written text. Probably the only language where I had no chance (though give me Faroese, and I just might change my mind). 1 person has voted this message useful | |
