I've just stumbled upon LanguageTool, a rule-based grammar checker with support for 33 languages. However, not all of them are equally well supported. The languages with the most rules are: French, German, Catalan, Polish and English.
I tested it with German and wasn't overly impressed, though. It did find some obvious typos but missed several grammar errors. Here's a real life example from the German HTLAL forum:
Fasulye suggested the following corrections:
