5. German is no harder to learn to speak and write than other languages. |

I'm trying not to laugh too hard about that one.

I'm not learning German, but it wouldn't take much to convince me to learn it. I just love the sound of it. |

Yeah, the sound is what attracted me to it. Too bad about it being virtually unlearnable.

I have fooled around with the thought of studying Czech and Dutch one day, but I'll probably settle on learning German. |

You can learn more than one other language, you know. I'd assume that Dutch would be easy once you've learned German, but the opposite wouldn't be true (as I understand it, Dutch's grammar is much easier than German's). About Czech, I'm pretty sure all the Slavic languages are difficult.

Strange question. Why learn any language? Why isn't everyone learning Mandarin?

In China, Mandarin speaks you.

Oddly, I've always had a hard time disginguishing between the German and Russian accents.
A few weeks ago, my father said all you have to do to speak German is "sound mean." I then started to explain how difficult the grammar is and he was like, "So, you basically have to be raised in it?". Yeah, basically.

Since I have started to learn Spanish I'm getting more interested in the very concept of knowing and learning other languages. |

If you've learned German and English, Spanish should be a walk in the park.
