Hello everyone - i'm studing French using FSI and having some difficulty with lesson #9, practice drill A-17. It deals with using negatives, the past tense, and pronouns. If I take my time to do the student portion, I can get it but it just takes me way too long. I of course need to be able to understand what the tutor is saying more quickly and formulate a response quickly too. I have a feeling that I could go over this and the following lessons that deal with this over and over again and I'm not sure that I will get it. I have problems especially when the "me" and "vous" are thrown in (as I have to reverse it when I do my response). For example:
Tutor: Mes amis ne m'ont pas reveille
Student: Pourquoi ne vous ont-ils pas reveille?
I've had problems with me, nous, and vous before and worked hard to try to learn it, but it gets harder as it gets more complicated. I have less problems with the other pronouns.
Other than just plugging away on the three lessons that deal with this a number of times, are there any tips on helping me learn this so I can respond more quickly?
Thanks,
Paul

I just suggest repeating some fixed expressions over and over (like "ne m'ont pas" and "ne vous ont-ils pas") until
they slide off your tongue naturally and also "trigger" the right thought in your head without having to translate all
the bits first. That's sort of what I did for expressions like "n'y'en a-t-il pas" and "il n'y'en a pas".
