Hmm it seems strange that the Windows version would be better.
Did you listen to my cleaned up sample? Was it similar to how yours sounded?
Did following my guide at least clean up the tape hiss? Maybe a step was missed or the default settings are different on the mac version of audacity?
The main thing is when you get the noise profile you only have a section that should be silent highlighted. When you use the noise profile to clean up the audio, you have the whole track highlighted.
There are guides on youtube you can watch to make sure, as my instructions may not be clear.

OHHHHH. For some reason before I didn't read the fact that the highlighted section had to be a silent part that had
the muffling. Now it's great, my norwegian tape 3 originally sounded like I was in a coffee shop, now it's nearly
silent! Thanks!!! :D
