Good luck!

My wife's native language is also French, and like your partner, she speaks excellent
English. I learned French so that I could speak with her family, and so that I could
help raise our kids bilingually.

Your program looks great. I started out with Assimil New French with Ease, and
after 6 months of that, I could carry on a simple conversation with a patient French
speaker. I did one lesson a day, and spent 20 minutes (passive wave) or 40 minutes
(combined waves) per day. I didn't really do any shadowing, though some people find
that helpful.

You have a great roadmap that should definitely get you conversational. You've chosen
excellent resources, realistic goals, and a plausible timeline.

And just so you know that it's all possible: The other day, some friends of wife
started speaking French to her on the street, and I was able to follow along, add a few
remarks and make a joke. :-)

Good luck!
