I'm currently studying Latin at university, never having studied the language at school. My translation skills are, I'm ashamed to admit, below par -- or, at least, they certainly seem to be. Therefore, I'd appreciate it more than anything if someone more learned than I would be able to help a little to stop me flailing about so painfully!
What I would want you to do is to help me translate/understand a few of Pliny the Younger's letters via e-mail. As I appreciate that this would take some time (though I shouldn't imagine that it'd be too taxing for those who have got to grips with the language), I am prepared to send payment via PayPal for your help. I am not rich, but I'm sure that we could negotiate a mutually beneficial price. Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Maybe we could use MSN messenger instead of e-mail, if you have it, but that's a minor technicality -- I really need some help (as I feel that there's a definite chance that I could fall behind and then get sucked further and further behind through my own ignorance/lack of guidance), how it's done is secondary. Also, I may be stuggling, but I don't believe that I lack intelligence (incidentally, I'm a member of MENSA): once I'm shown how a particular sentence comes to mean what it does, I'm usually fine, I just often have trouble initially making that link for myself, so I don't believe that I'll be a particularly troublesome "pupil". :)

Thanks, I saw that site; the only problem is that it only contains a selection of his letters (though it has helped me with some). Also, many translations I've looked at have diverged so much from the Latin that it's hard to see the exact workings, so it would be helpful to have someone of whom I could ask specific questions.
Thanks anyway.

To jismith1989:
It is not really in line with the spirit of most of this forum if we start paying each other for making translations and things like that. There is in fact a new subforum called "Marketplace" which might be relevant in your situation, but unfortunately for you it is reserved for senior members. Nevertheless I hope that the links provided by other members can solve your problem.

I appreciate that, but I desperately need some help, and I imagine that it would be even more out of line with the spirit of the forum for me to ask people to spend their valuable time helping me (with the help needed being quite sizeable, in relative terms) without any incentive. ;)
If anyone wishes to help me with no payment, of course, I would appreciate that greatly. However, I can't expect that.
