I just came across the material on Deutsche Welle and was really impressed. Since I obviously don't need it, the question concerning a French equivalent popped up in my head as well because I have a hard time understanding spoken French. The links above look excellent, I'll definitely check out the material on RFI and newsinspokenfrench.com. So thanks a lot for posting those links!

I'm familiar with the other resources, but this looks really good. I sometimes listen to "Le journal en français facile", but it is still way beyond me. This news in slow French looks good because they are short podcasts (like 2 mins), and it looks like you can download free vocabulary sheets. Thanks! 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Have any of you tried Deutsche Welle's Learning by Ear? They're radionovelas intended for Africa. Pdf Transcripts are available and many of the same podcasts/pdf's are also available in English, Portuguese, Swahili, Amharic and Hausa.
You can imagine the possibilities for listening/reading and making your own bilingual texts by copying and pasting into a two column word format. The French is African, so if you have to have a Parisian accent beware. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

Deutsche Welle, like the BBC, is a world broadcaster and broadcasts in French in order to reach the large French-speaking audience in Africa. Years ago, before the internet, shortwave radio was the way to contact an international audience. In Africa, even today, internet penetration is still low. DW, VOA, BBC, RFI and others still maintain language services into Africa in order to reach and influence French-speaking Africans. 1 person has voted this message useful | |||

I found DW really helpfull when i was studying German so i wonder if there is an Italian version as well. I saw this thread and didn't want to make a new one and decided to just post here.
