I've just started learning a new language and use flashcards to study vocabulary. I was wondering what methodes others use for studying vocabulary and what seems to ork best. Or do you use several different methodes?

As Extralean says, there really are tons of threads related to this topic. That said, finding them can be a bit of a pain, so here are some searches to get you started.
I apologize for only providing raw searches, but these methods are far enough from my preferred techniques (especially using L-R) that I'd rather not recommend specific ones. The searches are using google, as I find it usually provides better results than the forum's built-in search.
learn vocabulary -- a rather general query, but it has several relevant results.
srs - spaced repetition systems are a way of using flashcards more effectively. Searching for specific SRS systems also has interesting results.
Iversen's wordlist method is worth a look.
flashcards has mixed results; maybe some will help.
Good luck.

I'd suggest the SRS thingy on www.smart.fm, it rocks. To make it interesting for myself, (for German) I take the lyrics from some of my favorite songs, then extract the words I don't know, then put those words on a list to study.
Good Luck
