What does 활 mean in the following song lyrics from Shinee's 'Juliette'?

활.활.불타오르는 유혹

I tried Google dictionary but no dice :(

It belongs to a class of words called "의태어". They are a bit like "의성어(onomatopoeia)", but instead of sounds, 의태어 describes movements and shapes.

활활 is a 의태어 describing the shape of fire - flamy, indefinite, rising up, etc. Sorry, but I can't really find an appropriate equivalent in English. :(

Not exactly "dancing". We always use it to describe something hot and burning.

Thanks Jiwon.

Before I posted here I asked two Koreans by text message, though they didn't reply. This morning they both replied saying basically what you said, though they both also used the word 'vigorously', and one also used the word 'fiercely'.

I suppose it comes from 활력 or 활동.
