The bottom line for me is that even if it's good it can't be good
enough to justify a price tag of over $300 when there are many other excellent programs
and books out there that are either pretty cheap or completely free.

Yeah I agree, but if you can get it by other means, then it's worth it. Personally, I
would recommend it over Pimsleur. If you are going to buy Pims, you might as well buy
Fluenz instead (If your language is of the ones they sale).

I would never recommend Rosetta Stone, hell even if it is free, it's not worth it LOL.

Some comments here say - this program or this other one does not go deep enough but I think when you need such a deep level - you have to build your own personal material - listening to radios, tv, movies, theatre, people ; reading newspapers and books.

I think most people would agree wholeheartedly with you. Any type of language learning program or activity will only take you so far. This includes standard classroom instruction.

Some will take you much further for much less cost than Fluenz.

I agreed with you on the previous page of this thread (or message 22) that the price was ridiculously high. So I don't know why you are quoting me to repeat your point about the cost. It seems to me if you think it costs too much, then don't buy it -- but let others decide for themselves whether the cost is worth it... at least stop quoting my posts and repeating yourself that the price is too high. thanks.

I purchased the Fluenz program last January, and I am pleased at the amount of material I
have learned thus far. Yes, it is expensive, but for a "newbie" it a very good
supplemental tool to learning Mandarin.
