when starting with anki what is the best way to fill in the card? I tend to just put as little info as possible,thinking that I'm only starting learning German so keep it simple but I'm now starting to think that I may be making a mistake,e.g der Baum - the tree,should I add the plural as well?
also are there any beginners German premade card stacks about? and lastly what options are there for Anki on the go(cheap)? is it just the iphone? thanks 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I would recommend finding simple example sentences with English translations, and if
possible audio files of natives saying the sentence. Some fairly simple Googling brought me to http://clip2go.com/_English+German+translation.htm, and I'm sure a more extensive search can reveal many more websites from which you can collect the necessary information and audio files. As for how to actually structure the front and back sides of the cards, there are many different ways you can go. I would probably recommend having the sentence on the front, so that when you see it you can try to read it and understand what it says. Then on the back, you can have the English translation and the audio file (which will automatically play if you are using Anki). Anki can also be accessed away from your computer on any internet-connected device. You can go to anki.ichi2.net to set up a free online account, and then fairly easily configure your installation to automatically synchronize your deck with the online version. There is a simple web interface which allows you to study different decks and add/edit cards. It is definitely not as powerful as the desktop application, but it is definitely good and light enough to use from things like mobile phones. One thing to keep in mind, is that (I believe since recently) you can not keep media synchronized, so if you use audio-files, you will not have access to them over the online interface.
