You make me want to go on the TransSiberian right now - which is bad - because I really have no holiday or money left. You also really make me want to learn Russian right now - which is good - as I am hoping one day to reach your level :-)

I am happy to see that little Uli is still trailing along and taking time to enjoy the journey! I also think that you are inflicting some serious linguistic and actual wanderlust on many of us - me included!

@Solfrid
Your travels around the globe are always really impressive! Every time I check out your language log, you make me long for the day (and bank balance) I can next hop onto a plane destined for some distant horizon. :)

@meramarina
Uli may be rather more slow than steady, but I have high hopes that he'll eventually reach Vladivostok without too much shell shock (so long as no comrades inadvertently deal him a crunching blow with their grammatical clodhoppers after dusk). And it almost goes without saying, he's particularly looking forward to your next big project too... ;)

Поездь v ремонте

Due to scheduled repairs on the railroad and inclement weather condititions (i.e. work and exams), the Trans-Siberian will need to remain under cover somewhere between Yekaterinburg and Tyumen for now. However, I hope to hop back on the Express in February, and start the engine revving again in the new year. So don't worry unduly about my little mobile home-dwelling friend, Uli Ulytka will eventually get to Vladivostok in the end!

I met the head of the International office of Russian railways on Wednesday - he was instrumental in helping us avoid having the organisation we are both members of force us to pay for projects we do not want. For some reason he made me think of your log - the railway theme is pretty strong here :-)

And as a railway man I know how important maintenance is!

Update

With repairs on the line completed, our jubilent Uli is ready to hop back on the Express (as far as a snail "can" hop of course) any time the station whistle blows. However I'll still need to postpone his epic journey across Mother Russia until May, whilst I engage in other language projects that take priority over the next few months (see my TAC 2012 team log for more details). In the meantime, Uli is safe and sound, and would like to thank his readers and any passing gastropods of a linguistic persuasion for their patience and ongoing support. :)

Teango, I've been charmed by little Uli's trans-Siberian journey, and look forward to following his future adventures.

Best of luck with your Team Sputnik endeavours!
