I am using New French with Ease, and while I appreciate the Assimil method of learning grammar through the language, now that I am approaching the last few lessons, my impression is that there is way too much new material being thrown at me with not enough varied repetition of the material already presented. In other words, for me, Assimil spreads itself too thin. Are there any programs out there similar to Assimil but with, for instance, fewer, longer dialogues?

You could try:
70s-90s Linguaphone (the Max Bellencourt version)
French in Action - although no translation like Assimil.
Living Language Beyond The Basics.

Living Language Ultimate Books could be used in an Assimil style and JapanesePod101 Has
dialogues and PDF transcripts as well.
