I still rely on Anki to familiarize myself with the nouns in N2. As they are mostly in Kanji this stage should be the easiest part for me. If everything goes smoothly I may finish the first round of the nouns by Christmas. Then I probably have to find more resources to learn the verbs and adverbs in context.

Since the words due for revision are accumulating fast, even if I were more concentrated today I would not have been able to finish my daily Anki within sixty minutes. I have to reduce the amount of daily new words to even out the distribution of my workload. Let me make it 255old+50new tomorrow.

Today I also read a very short story titled 雨降る夜に by 赤川次郎. There are some new words and occasionally a few new sentence patterns but these didn't prevent me from understanding the story. Now I remember that someone from a Japanese-learning forum once said his novels are accessible for learners at N2 level. In fact, reading Japanese mystery stories is one of the reasons I learn Japanese. I guess I would start reading more of his novels.

Though I have been working with Anki on buses and trains in the last two days, it is still frustrating to spend so much time. I have to live with it for several days before the workload becomes again manageable within sixty minutes.

It seems that idling in hospital improves the efficiency significantly.

Unfortunately I can't finish the first round of the 1841 nouns with Anki by tomorrow as I planned. As soon as it is done next week, I will start working on the accompanying N2 vocabulary exercise book to consolidate my rote learning.

天声人語 is a daily column of 朝日新聞. It is, among many things, a famous source of reading comprehension questions for many examinations in Japan, due to its richness in style, vocabulary, and information. I will try to follow it though it appears very difficult for me right now.

Hi just wanted to wish you a belated welcome to team い. Thanks for the link to the asahi column, I think I might try following it too.
