I have a Spanish exam tomorrow, and I am studying Spanish irregular verbs, but I haven't found one that means to become? Can anyone help me out?

You can use "llegar a ser" or "volverse".

Examples:

Después de diez años llegué a ser presidente.
After ten years I became president.

Después de esto me volveré más fuerte.
After this, I'll become stronger.

So, you conjugate llegar ("a ser" doesn't change), and volverse is a reflexive verb.

I think "Acabo de ser hombre" = I have just been a man.
"Ponerse" is another word for 'to become'. As in: Me puse muy contento.

It's strange Spanish lacks such an important verb.
In Italian there's diventare, in Brazilian Portuguese: virar: diventare/virar presidente.

In Portuguese it's more common "tornar-se" (also a reflexive verb). I think "virar" is spoken language.

What about "devenir"? That was the first that came to my mind but it's probably not the most common...
