On the first day of February, I begin the 6WC for French! My current level is beginner,
but I have spent about 4-6 hours all together studying French, mostly looking at grammar,
so I do have an understanding of the language. I am not shooting for a specific level in
French, but I would like to be at basic fluency. During the 6WC challenge, I will stop
all other language study except for French. I am shooting for 3 hours a day on weekdays,
maybe 8 hours on weekends, so total, 186 hours. I know its ambitious, but it can be done!
I don't have a specific plan for what I will do daily, but I think I already understand a
good portion of the grammar from Spanish, so the main focus will be vocabulary and
listening comprehension. It will be tough also, not studying Russian, Irish, or
Norwegian, as I am more interested in learning those languages than French, but I think
there is enough in French to keep me entertained for 6 weeks.

Well I haven't started actually "studying," but I have been working on an Anki deck for
French, so today I spent some time organizing French verbs by conjugation. So far I
have 12 main groups of verbs conjugated like
1. aimer
2. finir
3. descendre
4. dormir
5. a. offrir b. cueillir
6. prendre
7. battre
8. mettre
9. rompre
10. craindre
11. np
12. construire
Number 11 is verbs who appear to have no pattern like aller and such. I am planning on
memorizing the conjugations of these listed verbs, then for most other verbs after I
just place a little (1) or a (2) on the Anki Flashcard. Just an easier way to learn the
conjugations I hope.

I joined the 6WC as well and I'm very excited!
This is my first challenge, my first self-language learning experience anyhow, so I wont go crazy. I plan to continue PImsleur, start Assimil, and finich MT disks (at least the basic course). I've also gotten some good music, so I would like play that more often or even have internet radio stations in French to just let my ear adapt to hearing spoken French.
Good luck!

My favourite french musician is Zaz.
What are you going to use as a source, Ellsworth? Audiobooks? Movies? Radio? A course for
vocabulary?
168 hours is a huge goal, I wish you luck with fulfilling it.

I like Zaz. I have the CD "Je Veux" by her.
For sources I am just going to use the internet. There are so many resources online for
French and I don't particularly like courses. I have Assimil French Without Toil and
Pimsleur French I but I probably won't use them, except for practicing audio
comprehension.

Well the next six weeks are looking to be possibly the busiest of my life.
1. Guitar competition middle of March
2. Piano competition middle of March
3. 6WC-middle of March
4. Weekly academic tournaments till the middle of March
5. school
6. sleep?
My time goals may be way, way off but I will keep them up there just as a motivation.
Midnight tonight, every second becomes gold. No more wasting time, no more distractions.
