Fairly frequently, people mention commercial audiobook sites that they are impressed with on these forums. It seems a bit of a waste to not gather any of this in one place for convenient reference. For free audiobooks and other types of resources, see the list of resources list thread.

Guidelines:
- It's better if, before recommending a site, you've actually used it, and had a favorable experience.
- It's better if you don't have any commercial tie to it, or if you do, disclose it.

I recently found a commercial German audiobook site which may be useful. It has recordings in several Western and Eastern European languages, including Russian, Polish and Hungarian, and Chinese. It also has many audiobooks in the major Western European languages graded according to the EU fluency guidelines. These have the original text and explanatory notes, so if you know sufficent German to use them they could be a useful bridge to other languages. The site is

I've used Internet Bookshop twice now to buy Italian books and audiobooks. I'm been very happy with their services.

I haven't found any section dedicated to audiobooks so I just enter "audiolibro" in the search window.

Huge selection of original works and translations, all the Russian classics, reasonable prices, quick delivery, and overall professional impression.

I ordered a bunch of Dostoevsky and Chekhov disks, which were sent the next day. Judging by the confirmation mail the shop seems to be run by a single Russian living in the US, who invests a lot of passion into the project. This will be my first address for Russian audiobooks.

For ordering audiobooks on CD's I have only used Amazon.de, but claudio.de site offers them too.

I've updated this thread with AniaR's suggestion of Livraphone. More suggestions are welcome.
