Hello Everyone
I'm a bit confused on what to do, so I thought this is the best place to ask for advice. I'm a full time college student and at college I study German and Italian. I spend part of my free time improving those 2 languages. But I'm serious about studying Japanese, this would have to be complete self study. And I was wondering would it be practical to pick up Japanese while I'm still studying German and Italian.
Thanks in advance
Mark

Hey Mark,
If you're a beginner in either (or both) Italian/German I'd say wait a bit. If you're a thirdyear/fourthyear in both languages and are comfortable with them, and if the only learning you're doing is vocabulary and practicing what you know then go nuts. Learn Japanese.
Ultimately it comes down to this: If you want to, you'll find a way. So who cares if it is practical or not? It might take longer, naysayers will say nay, and it'll be up to you to prove them wrong.
Besides, the practical thing would be to knuckle down and bust out your uni degree. But my mum would think that you're cool if you added Japanese to the mix. On top of that, the years at uni are like the easiest and most sparetime filled of your life. May as well do something productive, and drink saki/asahi instead of real beer...
Thom.

Hello Thom,
Thank you for the reply. I've been studying German for about 6 years now and i've just finished my first year of Italian.
I've decided that instead of Japanese I'm gonna pick up my Mandarin again. I did some Mandarin before but the temptation has bought me back to it haha. :)
