I have used musicload.de several times now to buy German audiobooks, it works well. There
is a complication: the site only sells to people with a German/Austrian/Swiss IP Address,
but this can be overcome by using a VPN service (such as hidemynet.com) when making
purchases.
There may be other sites that don't have this complication.

How about audible.de? As I've mentioned before, they still offer lots of free unabridged German audiobooks for download and you don't need to provide credit card information or a German address. Do they check the IP address, too?

Thanks for the link. Today I wanted a specific audiobook: 'Momo', by Micheal Ende. I
usually try to avoid using Audible as I find the DRM really inconvenient.

Yeah the DRM for audible is really annoying. DavidW do you know a way to convert them to MP3?

Yes, there are a couple of methods. Google "audible convert mp3". The audible software
allows you to burn regular audio CDs from the protected files, so most methods involve
burning to a 'virtual' CD drive, and then creating MP3s from this data. Frankly it's a
hassle.
Given that to have a pirated version floating around the internet, you only need one
person to carry out his task, this copy protection provides little added security.
Audible also pay very low royalties to the publishers (10-20% of the retail price,
depending if you give them exclusive rights to sell the audio).
